We have our first races of the season scheduled for this week! These races are currently slated to happen – there is a lot of detail below regarding logistics for these races below so please be sure to read it all
EPHS Varsity Race:
Tuesday Buck Hill, 3:15PM Inspection, 4-6PM Racing
Students will be excused from CMS at 1:30PM, EPHS 1:45PM. The bus leaves EPHS at 2:15PM. CMS students, you need to arrange your own ride to EPHS to catch the bus.
Students who will not be riding the bus to/from EPHS must complete the drive form on the activities webpage. This includes if parents want to take their athlete home from the race.
Ensure the race waiver signed otherwise your athlete will not be allowed to race (see below for more details)
Parent Volunteers Needed: We need 4 parents to volunteer for gatekeeping duties at this race – you do not need to be a skier, former racer to do this job! It is a fun way to get to know other parents and to have the best seat in the house for watching your athlete race! If we do not have these spots filled, then our coaches must fill them and that means they won’t be available to coach the athletes during the race. You will be briefed before the race by the Head of Race on what to do and we already have two experienced parent gate judges signed up to help train you. You will get a free lift ticket for volunteering, but you do not have to be on skis, most parents just walk up the hill to their gate judging spot. Minnesota Ski Area's Race Waiver: Please remember to fill out the waiver, this is used at Buck Hill mostly but also covers all athletes, coaches and volunteers at other venues throughout the season. Byerly’s Bagging (SLP & EPHS): The SLP team is signed up for bagging at Byerly’s in SLP 12/23. Given their team size they don’t think they can fully staff with SLP athletes/parents alone and are looking for help from EPHS athletes/parents and are willing to split the proceeds proportionally – please note that participants must be at least 14. Team Fee: The team fee is separate and additional from the fee you paid when you registered your athlete for the team. This fee covers costs that aren’t covered by the district or your registration fees (e.g. coaching, gates and other equipment, race transport, etc.). We do not want the team fee to be a hinderance to your athlete participating and we can be flexible in timing for receiving payment – please contact Coach Nate as needed to discuss.
EPHS/SLP Team Fee: $275 can be paid to our Venmo account @ephsalpine (please add $5 for Venmo transactions to account for convenience fees associated with our account) or a check made out to EP Alpine and dropped off with one of the coaches at practice. SLP fees will be applied appropriately.

Kowalski’s Bagging (EPHS): We have bagging at Kowalski’s next weekend (12/15) and WE NEED HELP FROM PARENTS AND ATHLETES. This is a big money maker for the team, and we need all hands on deck to ensure we have coverage. We need a parent for the 2PM-4PM shift and another for the 4PM-6PM shift – we also need 6 athletes for each of these shifts. Athletes do not actually bag the groceries, they help walk groceries out to customer’s cars and the two hours goes very quickly. Feed My Starving Children (EPHS & SLP): This week, in lieu of Tuesday practice, we are hosting a volunteer opportunity at Feed My Starving Children. We have additional space for adults and athletes, please ensure you complete your sign up by Monday so we can update FMSC with our final number of participants. Please plan to arrive between 7-7:15PM, athletes should contact their captains if they need any assistance organizing a ride to/from FMSC.

Coach Nate will be sending out separate information to sign up and pay for a team jacket if you're interested.

Welcome to the 2024-2025 Season

The Skiing season is around the corner!
There will be a team meeting on Nov. 4th at 7pm to go over the season and expectations for the season.
EP Parents and Athletes please plan to attend the EPHS PAC meeting on Monday Oct. 28 at 7pm in the EPHS Gym. For further details please contact the Activities Office.
Remember registration is open at this time. We are trying to plan if an overnight trip will be feasible this season based off team size, please make sure to register as soon as you're able. I will be making the determination next week on Wed. the 30th.

Here are the details for the coming week:
Mon. 2/5: Sections Only Practice 7-8ish
Tues. 2/6: EP Sections at Buck Hill; SLP Sections at Wild Mountain
Wed. 2/7: Practice 7-9pm, those interested in being a captain next year will be giving their speeches
Thurs. 2/8: Gaper/Jerry Day - Final Practice of the season 7-9pm, please come dressed in your best "Jerry" outfit or fun costume! If you need any clarification on what to wear please talk to your captains
Fri. 2/9: JV Champs at Buck Hill, 4pm (EP JV ONLY) - if you have been racing at the JV races this year, you will be racing at JV Champs
We are looking to do the banquet (for both EP and SLP) the weekend of April 13-14 (exact day TBD), so mark your calendars! Be on the lookout for more details in the coming weeks.

EPHS Alpine Captains' Practices
10/30/2023
Captains' practices are being held from 3:45pm to 5:00pm on Mon 10/30, Wed 11/1, and Mon 11/6. Meet at on the grass fields by Lot B on the Northwest side of Eden Prairie High School. Wed 11/8 will be an Alpine vs. Nordic Soccer Game in the EPHS Activity Center (see announcement below).

Our season is right around the corner! Registration is open! You need to be registered to participate in dryland, so make sure you get that done in the next couple weeks. Here are some key upcoming dates to put on your calendar:
Friday, 10/27: Concessions and Stadium Clean Up (please sign up if you are able!)
Monday, 10/30, 7 PM: PAC Meeting (starts in the EPHS main gym with all sports and then will break out to alpine only; SLP can arrive at around 7:15)
Monday, 11/13, 7 PM: First Day of Dryland
Friday, 12/1 - Sunday, 12/3: Lutsen Trip
Also, a reminder that the last two ski swaps are this weekend (Hyland and Duluth) if you are looking for any used gear!

Team photos for both EP and SLP have been rescheduled to this coming Thursday 2/9 at 4:30 pm at Hyland Hills. We will go back to doing them on the bunny hill like we have in the past. Plan to wear your ski gear and have your skis. An email went out last Monday from Linhoff Photo about ordering photos if you would like. Practice will be at the normal time later. Let the coaches know if you have any questions!

Reminder to families that if your athlete wants to qualify for a Varsity letter participation in fundraisers is required. We are still in need of a few parents for Friday night's football concessions, this is a fun way to meet some of the other parents on the team and help the team support boosters as well as raise some funds.
